1. Can I use this shaving cream with any type of razor?
Definitely! Our Shaving Cream is compatible with cartridge, safety, and straight razors. Its rich, protective lather helps create cushion and lubrication for a smooth, comfortable shave with a superior glide, no matter which razor you use, and for everyday shavers, traditional wet shavers, and barbers alike. For best results, build a rich lather and use a sharp blade.

2. How much shaving cream should I use, and how long will one tube last?
Less than you think. A little goes a long way. Our Shaving Cream is a concentrated formula, so pea- or dime-sized amount is all you need to build a rich lather. One tube typically lasts 3–6 months with regular use, though it will vary based on your shaving routine, how thick your scruff is, and the amount of cream you use each shave.

3. Is this shaving cream suitable for all beard types, from light stubble to coarse beards?
No matter your beard type, our Shaving Cream creates a rich, dense, protective lather that helps soften stubble and reduce friction. It works just as well for daily shaving as it does for several days of beard growth. If you have a particularly coarse beard, pairing it with Proraso Pre-Shave Cream can provide even more comfort and protection.

4. Will the Refreshing Formula help reduce razor burn, and is it suitable for sensitive skin?
The Refreshing Formula creates a rich, creamy lather that cushions the razor and helps reduce friction for a smooth, comfortable shave. Infused with eucalyptus oil and menthol, it leaves skin feeling cool, refreshed, and invigorated after shaving. If you have very sensitive skin, experience redness with more "tingly" shave formulas, or are prone to razor burn, we recommend patch testing first and/or trying our Sensitive Skin Formula, which is specially formulated to help calm and comfort sensitive skin prone to redness and irritation.

5. How strong is the cooling sensation in the Refreshing Formula?
Proraso's signature Eucalyptus & Menthol formula delivers a refreshing cooling sensation that leaves skin feeling invigorated during and after your shave. Most people find the cooling effect fresh and energizing rather than overpowering, and it gradually fades shortly after shaving. If you're especially sensitive to menthol, though, we recommend our White (Sensitive) line for a gentler experience.

6. How does Proraso's lather compare to canned shaving cream?
Proraso's rich, creamy lather is intentionally different from canned shaving foam. Rather than creating a large, airy foam, it creates a rich, dense lather designed to provide cushion and lubrication to help reduce friction for a close, comfortable shave. Start with a small amount of cream and gradually add water until you achieve a smooth, creamy consistency.

7. What's the difference between the Shaving Cream Tube and the Shaving Soap in a Jar?
This might surprise you, but the formula is the same (!) and they both result in a rich, dense lather. The difference is in the cooling process during production and how much water evaporates during that process. Proraso's Shaving Cream in a Tube and Soap in a Jar are both made using a saponification, or "hot soap" method. After mixing, the soap is poured into large vats to cool, or "cure", during which time the water evaporates and the formula becomes more concentrated. The cream in a tube cures for about 5 days and the soap in a jar cures for about 10, the latter resulting in a semi-solid texture versus a softer, creamy texture. The Cream in a Tube can be used either with hands or a brush, while the Soap in a Jar requires a shaving brush. Which you choose comes down to personal preference.

8. Why is my lather thin, airy, or disappearing during my shave?
This is the most common first-time hurdle, and it's usually a water issue—not a soap issue. Proraso's semi-solid soap performs best with a wet brush, a 30–45 second load time, and water added gradually until the lather becomes rich and creamy rather than airy or foamy. Boar brushes tend to work especially well with this soap. If you're still having trouble after a few tries, Proraso's Shaving Cream in a Tube offers the same signature scent with an easier, more forgiving lather.
